For travellers with accessibility requirements, navigating a major international airport can be a source of anxiety and uncertainty. Emirates Group set out to change that, commissioning Power Interactive to develop a virtual reality (VR) tour application that allows people with determination to virtually explore and rehearse Emirates Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport (DXB) from any location. The result was a fully immersive VR experience that put the terminal in the hands of every traveller who needed it most, turning the unknown into the familiar, and anxiety into confidence.

For people with determination travellers with physical, sensory, or cognitive accessibility requirements the experience of navigating a large international airport terminal can be overwhelming. Emirates Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport is one of the world's busiest and most complex terminals, and for passengers who benefit from advance preparation and spatial familiarity, the inability to rehearse the journey in advance can be a genuine barrier to confident, independent travel. Emirates Group identified this gap and set out to address it through immersive technology commissioning a VR solution that would allow people with accessibility needs to explore and rehearse the terminal from any location, at any time, before their journey.
The challenge for Power Interactive was to develop a VR application that was not only technically immersive but genuinely useful and accessible, a virtual learning environment that accurately represented Emirates Terminal 3, allowed users to navigate key areas at their own pace, and provided the spatial familiarity and confidence that would make a real difference to the travel experience of people with determination. The solution needed to work as both a standalone VR experience and a digital travel rehearsal campaign tool for Emirates Group.
“We wanted every traveller regardless of their needs to feel confident and prepared before they arrive at the terminal. Power Interactive gave us a VR experience that makes that possible from anywhere in the world.”
