Immersive Treadmill Virtual Climate Running Activation for Under Armour

We created an immersive treadmill activation for Under Armour's latest running apparel launch, where participants registered via iPad and ran through six virtual environments displayed on a large-format screen that responded to their speed in real time. The experience included a live leaderboard to encourage competition and was delivered end-to-end, including content creation, technology integration, hardware setup, and on-site support.

Under Armour wanted customers to experience the performance of its latest running apparel rather than simply see it on display. The goal was to create an engaging retail experience that would place participants in realistic running environments and demonstrate the benefits of the apparel in an interactive way.

To achieve this, we developed an immersive treadmill activation featuring a large-format screen, real-time responsive visuals, iPad registration, and a live leaderboard. The experience encouraged friendly competition, increased customer engagement, and created a memorable brand experience that kept visitors coming back throughout the campaign.

Immersive Running Experience Powered by Real-Time Competition

iPad Registration & Participant Journey

Visitors began by registering on an iPad before taking part in the challenge. Once registered, their name was added to the competition, allowing them to track their performance on the live leaderboard and compete for the fastest time. This simple process turned a product trial into an engaging and competitive experience.

Immersive Screen Environment

As participants ran on the treadmill, a large-format screen displayed a journey through six different environments, including deserts, mountains, storms, and arctic landscapes. The visuals responded to the runner's speed in real time, creating an immersive experience that showcased the demanding conditions Under Armour apparel is designed to perform in.

Live Competitive Leaderboard

A live leaderboard displayed the fastest times from all participants and updated in real time after each run. This added a competitive element to the experience, encouraging visitors to push themselves, return to improve their scores, and compete for the top position while attracting more people to join the challenge.

UI Design & Full System Integration

We designed the complete user experience, including the registration screen, running interface, and live leaderboard. All systems were fully integrated with the treadmill and display technology to create a seamless experience from start to finish. On-site technical support was also provided throughout the campaign to ensure smooth and reliable operation.
