GETS Summit Interactive Open Dome Activation

A 3-metre open dome activation was designed, built, and installed for DXB Live at the Governance of Emerging Technologies Summit, the UAE's landmark gathering on the responsible governance of AI, quantum computing, and Web3. Visitors selected one of six countries on a touchscreen console and watched that nation's emerging technology story unfold across the full curve of the dome in front of them, turning a policy conversation about global technology governance into something delegates could see, choose, and explore for themselves.

3-Metre Open Dome: Interactive Event Activation

The Governance of Emerging Technologies Summit convenes policymakers, legal experts, technologists, and academics from more than twenty countries to shape how the world governs AI, quantum computing, and Web3. The subject matter is abstract by nature: frameworks, legislation, and ethical principles do not naturally lend themselves to a visual exhibition. DXB Live needed an activation that would give delegates something tangible to engage with, and that would communicate how emerging technology is developing across different nations without reducing the topic to text on a panel.

The activation also had to work within the constraints of a live summit floor. Delegates move between sessions in short windows, so the experience needed to be immediately understandable, quick to complete, and repeatable for a continuous flow of visitors across both days. It had to hold its own visually within a heavily designed event environment, and the entire installation had to be built, transported, installed, and commissioned to a fixed summit deadline with no margin for overrun.

"Governance is an abstract subject until you can see what it looks like somewhere else. Give a delegate six countries and a screen, and suddenly they are not being told how the world regulates technology, they are choosing which part of it to look at."

— Creative Director, GETS Summit Dome Activation

Six Countries. One Touchscreen. One Open Dome.

3-Metre Open Dome Installation

The activation was built around a 3-metre open dome, mounted on a freestanding frame and angled toward the viewer so that the projected image fills the field of vision without requiring an enclosed structure. The open format was chosen deliberately for a summit floor: delegates can see the content from across the room, and step in and out in seconds with no queue or entry point.

Interactive Selection Interface

A touchscreen console positioned directly in front of the dome presents six countries and invites the delegate to select one to explore. The interface was designed for immediate first-use clarity in an event setting, with no instructions required and no learning curve, so that a delegate passing between sessions could begin an experience within seconds of approaching.

Content Development: Six Country Journeys

Bespoke content was produced for each of the six featured countries, tracing how emerging technologies are being developed and governed in that nation. Each sequence moves from a global view down into the country itself, then into thematic visualisations covering areas such as AI regulation, digital transition, and cybersecurity, all composited for the curvature of the dome surface.

Trigger System & Integration

The touchscreen and dome were integrated so that each selection instantly triggers the corresponding country sequence on the dome, with the system returning to the selection state ready for the next visitor. The activation was configured to run continuously across both summit days without an operator, supporting an uninterrupted flow of delegates throughout.

Five Systems Behind the Activation

3-Metre Open Dome

Freestanding open dome structure mounted on a frame and angled toward the viewer, delivering an immersive curved canvas that remains visible and approachable from across an open exhibition floor.

Dome Projection & Calibration

Projection system mounted to the dome frame and calibrated to the curved surface, mapping content accurately across the full dome with no visible distortion at the viewing position.

Interactive Touchscreen Console

Touchscreen interface presenting the six country selections, designed for immediate first-use clarity in a fast-moving summit environment with no instruction or assistance required.

Trigger & Playback System

Integration linking each touchscreen selection to instant playback of the corresponding country sequence on the dome, with automatic reset to the selection state for the next visitor.

Bespoke Dome Content

Six purpose-built content sequences produced for the dome format, each tracing a nation's emerging technology and governance story through global, national, and thematic visual chapters.

The dome became one of the most approachable moments on the summit floor. Because the format was open rather than enclosed, delegates could see the content playing from a distance and step straight in without a queue or an entry point, which suited an audience moving between sessions in short windows. The act of choosing a country turned a passive display into a decision, and gave each delegate a reason to stay for the sequence they had selected themselves.

The activation demonstrates how an open dome can make an abstract policy subject genuinely legible. By pairing a simple selection interface with content built specifically for the curved surface, a conversation about how different nations govern emerging technology became something delegates could explore at their own pace, in under a minute, and repeat with a different country on the way back.
